Set in Singapore in the 1990s, llo llo chronicles the relationship between a young boy and his maid from Iloilo, a province in the Philippines, set against the backdrop of Asian financial crisis of mid 1990s. Director Anthony Chen's first full-length feature, Ilo Ilo, which was selected for The Director's Fornight at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival premiered at 2013 Cannes to a 15 minutes standing ovation.
